Founded in 1881, Minto is in Walsh County, about thirty miles north of Grand Forks and about ten miles south of Grafton.
With a population of just over six hundred, Minto is an ideal place to raise a family. The town offers a variety of activities, including Polish dancing, snowmobiling clubs, and an active high school sports program.
Minto offers a beautiful city park, one that is nicely maintained and which includes picnic areas, places for volleyball, baseball, and a walking path. In the summer, you will find children playing ball, enjoying the playground, and walking or biking the path.
There are many winter activities as well, including the area snowmobiling club, and even an antique snowmobile ride, an USSC-sponsored snowcat race. Ice fishing is available in the area, and there is an outdoor ice rink for everyone to enjoy. On a nice winter day, kids can be seen playing hockey.
There are also areas for hunting and fishing in the areas surrounding Minto.
